About Beautiful Kitchens & Bath
How It All Began
Founded in 1988 by Karen and Carl Taylor, our company began as a small kitchen and bath remodeling business on Great Mills Road, built on a commitment to quality craftsmanship and personal service. What started as a modest operation quickly gained momentum, earning the trust of homeowners throughout the community.
By 1989, the growing demand for our work led to a move to the Wildewood Shopping Center, where we were able to expand our services and better serve our customers. As our reputation continued to grow, so did our team and capabilities.
In 1995, we reached another major milestone by moving into our current, much larger, company-owned location. This expansion allowed us to showcase more design options, improve our operations, and continue delivering exceptional remodeling experiences.
As a proud family-owned business, our story came full circle in 2021 when founders Carl and Karen Taylor retired. The company was passed on to the next generation, with longtime employees Laura Blake—Karen and Carl’s daughter—and her husband, Rob Blake, taking ownership. With deep roots in the business and a shared dedication to excellence, Laura and Rob continue to uphold the values the company was built on while guiding it into the future.
Today, we remain committed to transforming kitchens and bathrooms with the same integrity, care, and attention to detail that have defined us since day one.
Meet the Team
Laura Blake
Owner, Lead Designer
Laura has been a valued part of the Beautiful Kitchens & Bath team since 1998. She first joined the company part-time while in high school, helping with bookkeeping, cleaning the showroom, and summer interning. After graduating from college, Laura returned to Beautiful Kitchens & Bath full-time in 2005, where she had the opportunity to work alongside her parents and learn every aspect of the business. In 2021, Laura and her husband, Rob, took the next step and became the owners of the company.
What Laura enjoys most about her job is helping homeowners take an existing kitchen and transform it into something amazing, beautiful, and functional. She loves seeing how thoughtful design and the right remodeling choices can completely change the way a family uses and enjoys their home.
Her advice for homeowners beginning a remodel is simple: Hire a good contractor who specializes in the type of work you are looking to have done. Laura understands how important it is to have an experienced professional guiding you through the remodeling process and making sure the project is done right.
After so many years in the remodeling industry, Laura takes pride in helping homeowners create spaces they will love for years to come. Her experience working alongside her parents and now owning the business with Rob has given her a unique appreciation for both the craftsmanship and personal relationships that go into every project.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband, Rob, and their three children and dog. During the summer, you'll find her at the beach or out boating with her family, while winters are reserved for snowboarding. When she's not enjoying time with her family, Laura's favorite local restaurant is Sweet Bay, and her go-to drink is a classic Coke.

Heidi Torre
Design Assistant
Heidi is a cherished member of BKB. She enjoys helping transform kitchens and bathrooms into spaces that are more spacious, up to date, functional, and better suited to each homeowner's needs. For Heidi, seeing the finished space is the best part of the process.
Her favorite part of a remodel is watching the design come to life in 3D. Being able to visualize how the selected materials, colors, and finishes will come together allows both Heidi and her clients to see the vision before construction even begins.
The thing Heidi takes the most pride in is creating a space that homeowners will truly love. Seeing their reaction when the remodel is complete and knowing she helped design a space that fits their vision is incredibly rewarding.
Outside of work, Heidi is a soon-to-be licensed real estate agent. One of her most rewarding projects has been building an apartment above her garage. When she's not working or pursuing her real estate career, she enjoys spending time at the gym, Holden Beach and, of course, enjoying a Red Bull.
Donald Newsome
Installer
Donald has been part of the BKB team for 14.5 years, bringing an impressive 25 years of experience in the remodeling industry. As an Installer, kitchen remodels are his favorite projects, and he enjoys seeing the work come together from start to finish.
When he’s not at work, Donald enjoys working on cars and spending time with his family. He and his wife have one son, along with a fun and unconventional collection of pets, including dogs, birds, and reptiles. Family, hobbies, and his love for all things automotive keep him busy outside of the showroom.
For Donald, no day is complete without an energy drink, and when it comes to food, Mexican cuisine is his go-to favorite.
His years of experience, hands-on skills, and dedication make him a valued part of the BKB team.
Nathan Evans
Installer
Nathan has been a valued member of the Beautiful Kitchens & Bath team since August 2022. While he officially began his career in construction and remodeling with Beautiful Kitchens & Bath, his passion for woodworking and building started when he was a kid. Over the years, he has become a true jack of all trades, learning from some of the best in the business and developing his skills in both tile and woodworking.
What Nathan enjoys most about his job is being part of a team that works well together, helps each other out, and knows how to have fun while getting the job done. For Nathan, the relationships he has built with his coworkers are just as important as the work itself, and he appreciates being part of a team that extends beyond the job site.
His favorite part of a remodel is watching everything come together piece by piece. Seeing the transformation take shape and experiencing the satisfaction of seeing all the hard work completed is what makes each project so rewarding.
During his time at Beautiful Kitchens & Bath, he has learned from Rob and the rest of the team, developing hands-on skills across woodworking, tile, cabinetry, and much more.
One of Nathan's most rewarding accomplishments was the first time he installed a kitchen on his own. Seeing the finished product after completing the installation gave him an incredible sense of accomplishment and showed him just how much he had learned. Knowing that he was able to complete the project using the tools and skills taught to him by Rob made it especially meaningful.
Outside of work, Nathan enjoys working on projects around his home, riding motorcycles, camping with his wife, Ashley, golfing, fishing, hunting, and snowboarding. He also loves tinkering with electronics and building gaming PCs. At home, he's kept busy with his three dogs—Lola, Willow, and Stormie—as well as his many fish tanks.
And if you spend much time around Nathan, you'll quickly learn that he loves dad jokes. According to Nathan, they're the highlight of his day. His favorite local restaurant is Salt in Ridge, which he especially enjoys riding his motorcycle to for the scenery, good food, and great drinks. And when it comes to his favorite drink, there's no question: energy drinks all the way.
